The second half of 2017 is full of new books by tons of authors that I'm very excited for. So many diverse books to watch out for, you guys. I totally wouldn't mind if these books magically appeared on my shelves.

THE HOLLOW GIRL - Hillary Monahan
I've been eyeing this since I found out that this would involve magic and a Romani protagonist. So ready to get spooked. (Oct 10th 2017, Delacorte Press) Goodreads

A gorgeous cover and Indian folklore! I'm craving this one. (Jul 18th 2017, Razorbill) Goodreads

Favorite 2017 Releases, Surprising Favorites, and Books I'll Never Read | Pokemon GO TAG

Everyone and their mother is playing Pokemon Go at the moment so I decided to jump on the bandwagon and do the Pokemon Go tag!

#1: STARTERS: A book that started your love for reading.
TWILIGHT by Stephenie Meyer. The first book series that had me legitimately read books in a single day. I remember getting the third book, ECLIPSE, finishing it on the same day and just lying on the floor for a couple of hours. People give Stephenie so much crap for that series, but I will always always stand by her.

#2: PIKACHU: An iconic classic that you'll always love.
BRAVE NEW WORLD by Aldous Huxley. Probably the first book I had to read for school and genuinely enjoyed. That ending will forever haunt me. Such an excellent book.

#3: ZUBAT: A book you lost
interest in because it's literally everywhere

THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J. Maas. I really wanted to read this back when I first found out about it, but people on tumblr are so incredibly annoying about it, my dash is just this book - so I sold my copy. I actually wrote a whole post about why I don't like to read hyped books.

#4: DITTO: A book that reminds you of other book (tropes) but you still love anyway
THE HUNTER by L.J. Smith probably counts? Swoony dark but sensitive evil love interest. Mary Sue protagonist, love triangle (ish) - But hell, that books from the 90s, L.J. Smith's one of the pioneers of early YA, she invented all'a'y'all!

#5: SNORLAX: A book/series you have not started because of their sheer size.
AMERICAN GODS by Neil Gaiman. I gave that book to my brother because I really just am not in the mood for a huge book like that right now. Also yeah, I really don't want to start this now that the TV show is everything people are talking about. Not reading this for a couple years!

#6: GENGAR: A book that kept you up at night
SOMETHING WICKED by Debi Chestnut. It's about paranormal entities and a non-fiction book and holy smokes, I read this at 4pm or something and had to turn all the lights on because I was so scared out of my mind.

If you know me, you know that answer. Marguerite and Paul from A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU by Claudia Gray.

#8: RAPIDASH: A fire-hot, fast-paced read
UNNATURAL DEEDS by Cyn Balog messed me up. I mean what did I expect from a book that starts with an actual murder and is told in retrospective. I read this within a day, the twist is insane, this whole story just messed me up, I... I just.

#9: EEVE: A series you'll never get tired of seeing spin-offs for.
Usually I am absolutely 100% against stuff like that and definitely dislike authors who beat the dead horse for money. Well, if Claudia Gray decided to publish a bunch of spin-offs for the Firebird series.... I'm trash for this series.... I can't help it...

#10: MAGIKARP: A book that was surprisingly awesome.
I'm still not over WINK POPPY MIDNIGHT by April Genevieve Tucholke. Didn't see this awesomeness coming at all.

#11: LEGENDARY: An overhyped series you're still excited to read
I stay away from hyped stuff. Genuinely, I'm not excited for any overhyped books right now. I'm more looking forward to the loads of books that are going to be published in 2017.

#12: MEW/MEWTO: A collector's edition you wish you owned.
I don't do collector's editions. I don't even do multiple editions! :D

#13: POKE-EGG: A debut novel you're very excited for.
Oh lord. Loads. Not only one. I'll probably make another post about all the books I'm looking forward to that are yet to come out very soon. Here are my current 2017 favorites:
  • WICKED LIKE A WILDFIRE by Lana Popovic: Girls who can manipulate beauty through magic. Hello, I need this immediately. Goodreads
  • SEA WITCH by Sarah Henning: The witch from the Little Mermaid gets her own book. I love me a good villain story! Goodreads

#14: LURE-MODULE: An auto-buy author
Sophie Kinsella! I trust no one with chick-lit aside from her.

#15: SERVERS DOWN: A book release you've been waiting on for forever
A MILLION WORLDS WITH YOU by Claudia Gray. Just gimme that conclusion, it's been 84 years.
